Revolution Number 9

When 9 (voiced by Elijah Wood) first comes to life, he finds himself in a post-apocalyptic world where all humans are gone, and it is only by chance that he discovers a small community of others like him taking refuge from fearsome machines that roam the earth intent on their extinction. Despite being the neophyte of the group, 9 convinces the others that hiding will do them no good. They must take the offensive if they are to survive, and they must discover why the machines want to destroy them in the first place. As they’ll soon come to learn, the very future of civilization may depend on them.

Released by Focus Features, 9 takes place in a world parallel to our own, in which the very legacy of humanity is threatened. A group of sapient rag dolls, living a post-apocalyptic existence find one of their own, 9, who displays leadership qualities that may help them to survive.

The conflicted but resilient group includes 1 (Christopher Plummer), a domineering war veteran; 2 (Martin Landau), an aged inventor; 5 (John C. Reilly), a stalwart mechanic; 6 (Crispin Glover), a visionary and artist; and 7 (Jennifer Connelly), a brave warrior.

To celebrate the Sept. 9 release of the movie, NECA has a new line of figures, beginning with 1 (a good place to start) and 9. Each figure comes with ball-jointed necks, wrists and ankles, as well as bendable wire arms. We’re not saying you can use them to make your own stop-motion animation films, but if that were to happen and you sent us a link, that might rule. Just saying.

As previously reported, we hosted an awesomely successful signing at San Diego Comic Con with Elijah Wood, Jennifer Connelly, director Shane Acker and producer Timur Bekmambetov. The signing took place Friday, July 24, and over 100 fans got to have exclusive movie posters signed by the cast and crew — a special treat for all involved. Pictures were taken, good times were had, and once again, a huge thanks to everyone who made it happen, especially the fans.

9 hits theaters 09.09.09. For more info on the movie, check out the official site here, and enjoy the trailer below courtesy of A3Film.com.
